90s Inspired Chilli Red & Peony Pink Restaurant Identity Designed by Jingqi Fan – It’s Nice That

Clickbait Title: “Exploring the Visual Universe of China With MáLá: A Look into the Unique Palette of Flavours and Cinema”

Rewritten Content:
MáLá’s identity brings together a vibrant colour palette of chilli red and peony pink–a symbolic representation of the exciting and flavourful style of cooking. Building further on this, artist Jingqi took cues from the visually stunning films of renowned directors Wong Kar-Wai and Hou Hsiao-Hsien, creating a collection of hues that are warm, vibrant and full of analog life.

When the opportunity to help create the visual look of one of Jingqi’s favorite restaurants arose, she recalls it was like it was meant to be. She sees the project as an homage to the first 13 years of her life in Beijing, aiming to give MáLá attendees an insight into China’s culture through its food.

Overall, Jingqi hopes that guests will have an enjoyable time when visiting, and come away with a new perspective of this unique culture and the memorable experiences it creates.
